The Birthday Gift: How to Not Blow Your Budget or Your Reputation

August 30, 2019

The birthday of someone close to you is always a reason to celebrate, but when you are on a budget, it’s difficult to find a birthday gift that will neither blow your budget nor your reputation. After all, we don’t want to secretly be called a cheapskate, but there’s no point blowing money purely based on vanity either, especially when you know you can’t really afford to. To solve this this dilemma, we are going to explore a few options that might just let you reach a middle ground.

Gift, Pack, Give, Loop, Father'S Day, Packaging

The Birthday Certificate

We are all highly visual beings, so how your gift looks while being presented, matters a lot to the person you are giving it to. A gift is supposed to be an expression of love, respect and sincerity, which is why wrapping papers still exist.

Use Adobe Spark to design a birthday certificate, and make it look just the way you want it to. They have a wide range of free birthday certificate templates for you to choose from and customize to your heart’s content.

The actual gift could be anything from a simple salon gift certificate to a modest gift cheque, but as long as the birthday certificate template has been customized to represent the relationship you share with the person, it could be the perfect gift.

Put Your Musical Skills to Work

Now, this one would not be applicable to everyone for obvious reasons, but even if you have basic musical skills, you have access to one of the classiest ways of getting out of spending money that leaves a huge impact at the same time.

Even the most materialistic person would not mind a song being dedicated to them on their birthday, and it will be more sincere than something that anyone can buy off the market.

What about Other Skills?

If you are one of the many who are not musically inclined, you still have the option to make a birthday gift more personal and customized than a marketed product. However, you will need some sort of a skill to accomplish this one.

For example, if you are a DIY person, why not make something with ornate wood or brushed metal? If cooking is your thing, bake a special treat for the party or offer to bake the birthday cake itself. Artists can present their close friends with a painting of their own put onto canvas specially for that person. The possibilities are endless as long as you have a talent to utilize.

Just in case you don’t have a specific talent or have not found yours yet, do not feel disappointed, because most of us fall in that group! This is why birthday certificates and easy to customize templates exist!

If a person is indeed close to you, they will understand why you can’t afford expensive gifts right now. It’s the gesture that matters more than anything else, so just make sure it’s a good one and nothing else should be necessary.
