A guide to kid friendly resorts in Spain

March 11, 2021

Grabbing some fun in the sun with the kids in tow can be a perfect winter holiday — or a great getaway any time of year. The entire family can enjoy a range of activities at kid friendly resorts in Spain, with the youngsters making new friends and enjoying exciting new experiences, while parents are then free to take advantage of a relaxing day at the spa, perhaps, or a day trip to cultural sights, or an evening of dining and dancing under the stars.

There are a number of these resorts, with several on the Costa del Sol in Andalusia on the Mediterranean Sea, one of Spain’s most popular holiday destinations, especially with families looking for a sun-drenched break.

Fun-filled Costa del Sol activities

As the kids are kept busy and enthusiastically engaged in their own holiday activities at kid friendly resorts in Spain, adults can take advantage of “time off” and enjoy everything from a leisurely afternoon at the pool to an outing off-site to explore the region’s speciality shops and restaurants, in addition to the myriad sites of historical and cultural interest across the Costa del Sol.

Parents’ itineraries when staying at a kid friendly resort in Spain might include taking a long walk on any of the spectacular beaches and perhaps stopping at a chiringuito, a special type of beach bar that offers classic Andalusian grilled sardines and other fried seafood dishes, topped off with a glass of wine; or switching things up by heading to the slopes early in the day to get in a few ski or snowboard runs before basking in the sun at the pool or on the beach in the afternoon.

Other enticing options include visiting one of the picturesque and storied towns along the coast; indulging in a massage; and, of course, reserving time for fine dining at any of a number of restaurants, the perfect place to leisurely recall the day’s adventures.

And there’s even more: play a round of golf, visit Pablo Picasso’s home in Malaga, take in the extraordinary views from an 18th-century bridge across the El Tajo gorge in Ronda, or other breathtaking views from the cable car ride up Mount Calamorro.

Popular kid friendly resorts in Spain

Among the most popular kid friendly resorts in Spain is Club La Costa Word Resorts, which offers a broad menu of fun and games for youngsters to partake of while their parents dash off on adventures of their own.

For the kids, Waves and the Mini Club at the resort feature age-appropriate activities in the safety of the resort setting. Waves, for older kids and teenagers, offers options such as Virtual Reality games, karaoke, movies, and sports – from ping-pong to basketball and more. At the Mini Club, for 4- to 11-year-olds, there’s splash time and games in the pool, playtime in bouncy castles, and even a mini disco.

Everyone will bring home lasting memories of their time spent at one of these outstanding kid friendly resorts in Spain. It’s time for parents to treat themselves — and their children — to a holiday tailored just for them, and make the visit to the Costa del Sol a magical one.
