The world of law firms is often a strange one, mainly because of the fact that they are as much a business as they are representatives of the law of the land. Sometimes this can appear odd from the outside, but the reality is that these law firms wouldn’t exist if they didn’t make any money, at least those not attached to the state. Despite this however, and whilst business and money making is very much important, legal firms such as those at the Law Offices of Dr Bruce. G Fagel & Associates, must ensure that they stand up to a certain number of values in everything that they do, and these are the main values which they must uphold.
Upholding of Integrity
If you have ever heard a joke about a lawyer before, the punchline is likely one which indicates that they are somehow shady or don’t have integrity. Sadly there are one or two out there who will do certain actions which are unlawful in order to win a case or protect their reputation. In the main however integrity is very much one of the most important values in a law firm and 99% of them ensure that they work to a strict code of ethics.
Compassion For Clients
It is not for lawyers to judge the clients which come through their door and this is why compassion is very much another value which they must maintain. Most clients do not want to be going through the legal process and the majority are very confused by what is expected of them. It is up to the legal team to show compassion for the clients, no matter what the case is.
Commitment
There is a reason why lawyers work as hard as they do and why they put in so many hours for every case that they have. This is because they have a very clear and dedicated commitment to both their clients and to the law of the land. If any lawyer shows a lack of commitment in a case then they really shouldn’t be in the position which they are. Usually in tight cases, the team who wins are the ones which outworked the other.
Fair Treatment
In the same vein that law firms must show compassion to their clients, another value which they must uphold is fair treatment. The legal teams work on one truth and one truth only, and that is what the laws states, and what precedents may have been set before. Beyond this however, they can show no favoritism to one client over another and no matter who their client is, they must treat them in the exact same way as they would do with any other client of theirs.
These are core values which all law firms must ensure that they maintain, no matter who the client is or what the case may happen to be.
