Best Pet-Friendly Garden Plants

January 14, 2021

Having a pet-friendly garden is essential in making your furry friends are happy and healthy. Imagine a space where they can roam freely, sniffing the flowers in the garden just as we do. To do this, you need to know what the best pet-friendly garden plants are. Your space will not only look picture-perfect, but it’ll be safe for all.

Artificial Grass

The best option for your garden if you’re a pet owner is laying down artificial grass. It’s cost-effective, low maintenance and long-lasting. Due to its cushioned surface and soft, fuzzy texture, your pooch can lay in the sun all day long. It’s completely pet-friendly.

A huge bonus of artificial grass is that your pet won’t be able to dig up holes or scratch the greenery away! The days of muddy paws are behind us. It remains a natural colour all year round too, no matter how much your animal rolls around on it.

If your pet makes a mess on the artificial grass, you can simply wash it away with some water.

Sunflower

Ah, sunflowers, the plant that radiates happiness. Good news, they’re completely pet-friendly! This plant will wind up towards the sun, leaving a yellow paradise for your animal to play in. They usually grow too tall for animals to nibble on, which means they’ll look full of life for as long as they live.

Snapdragon

Snapdragons are fabulous plants for adding colour to your garden. Their delicate, fancied resemblance to dragons relates them to animals immediately. Not only are they gorgeously vibrant, but they’re non-toxic too. So, you and your pet can enjoy their colour without any worries.

Rosemary

Who doesn’t love growing herbs in their garden? Rosemary is a great choice to plant amongst the greenery. The fresh scent will waft through the air whenever your pet runs past, allowing us humans to enjoy the Rosemary through our noses too. When it’s ready for the kitchen, you can cook it with homemade dishes fit for all the family.

Creeping Zinnia

Creeping Zinnia are a staple piece of colour in any garden. It’s a versatile plant that can be grown in a hanging basket, rock garden, or any type of soil bedding. Creeping Zinnia thrives best in the sunlight and usually lasts until fall. Your pets will be safe amongst its yellow, welcoming nature.

Bamboo

If you’re looking for an exotic plant with a multi-use purpose, bamboo is ideal. It’s slick, decorative appearance makes it fantastic to use as a feature wall or to hide storage space. Bamboo is fast-growing and affordable, as well as having no harm to animals. It reminds people of being on holiday, which creates a relaxing environment in your garden.

Magnolia Bushes

Known for their pretty bloom, magnolia bushes are pet-friendly and captivating. Their long flowering season, from May to September, means that you can enjoy their beauty for months on end. They’re often bursts of pink and white, but can also be purple. If you’d love to create borders with bushes, magnolias are a great fit for your garden.
