We've been playing with pool noodles lately and coming up with different ideas to create with them! Last week we printed/painted with pool noodles! Check out that post here. This time we created Pool Noodle Sculptures that float! This a great activity that you can bring outside or in the bathtub too. All you need is some cut up pool noodles and toothpicks. Here is one of our pool noodle sculptures.
Here are our cut up pool noodles. Keep some of the noodles longer for the base of the floating sculpture. Also, cut up some various sizes and some can be halves of pieces. Use your imagination! I cut the noodles with heavy duty scissors.
We took this activity into our backyard pool. I put the toothpicks in a floating container and put the floating pieces of noodles in the water too. You could do this activity on a table too, but it is nice to be able to check to see if your sculpture is balancing/floating while creating!
Here is a sculpture in progress.
Once finished, time to play!
The nice thing is that you can take these sculptures apart and reform them over and over! Be careful of loose toothpicks in the water though!
Here is another creation!
